Day 19 - February 13 - Jeff

So if you are out there and you feel like you are doing this alone, you’re not. There are others, some in our own church, but many more you will never meet. I am praying for them, and I am praying for you as we pray for others. We are the body of Christ.

Day 17 - February 12th, 2019 - Madeline

I wonder if this is the way that we tend to treat God. God freely offers unconditional love, grace, relationship. At first we take it and feel so undeserving and grateful, but after a while we realize there are other things we could have that we want more. So we buy something that we think will fulfill us. We seek after other things that we expect will satisfy, and we end up costing ourselves.

Day 15 - February 10th, 2019 - Autumn

I tend to forget that God is the one that blessed me with the abilities to succeed. However, when I live this life, I live in a constant state of worry. The pressure to be perfect is a lot to place on an imperfect person. This time of fasting has been a time to give Jesus (the only perfect person) control of my life.

DAY 11 - FEBRUARY 6th - JEFF

there is food everywhere, but I am making a choice not to access it. Then the lightbulb went off. As much is that is true for food, how much more is it with God. God is everywhere,

Day 10 - February 5th, 2019 - Madeline

I am reminded, though, that my prayers are not what is working for the good of the names on my list — my God is. I only get to play a small part in it, and I am humbled even by that. Rest in the knowledge that your fancy words and specific requests are not changing the lives of the people across Nashville. The God who made them all is doing that.

Day 8 - February 3rd, 2019 - Michael

the one day this week when I was fasting, there were a lot of times I caught myself reaching for food without hesitation. When I was finally able to eat again though, wow. So good. Maybe that is teaching me something about prayer too? Sometimes we pray and nothing happens. And we pray again, and nothing happens. And after a couple times more, we wonder, “Maybe I’d be better off figuring it out myself.” But maybe, just maybe, if we stick it out and wait on out faithful God, the blessings will come bigger and better than we could have hoped.

Day 4 - January 30th - Jeff

I am a creature of habit. I don’t mind new places, new adventures, and new experiences, but I want those things to fit around the schedule of things I do every day. There are those things you are supposed to do every day as a human: get out of bed, eat food, drink coffee, brush your teeth, shower, go to work, be nice, drink more coffee, eat some more, spend time with friends and family, go to bed. But then there are things that are unique to specific individuals.

Day 3 - January 29th, 2019 - Madeline

As you continue to learn to walk, let God pick you up and dust you off. Don’t stop walking because you are afraid of falling down. Everyday is a new chance to recommit yourself to praying and believing for revival in the hearts of those in our city! I am thankful for Day 3 because it is a new opportunity. It’s another chance for me to pray for my people.

Day 1 - January 27th, 2019 - Michael

Often I mistakenly view my prayers as bringing God my to-do list, and if the prayer is answered the way I want, it’s a win. If not, it’s a loss. Unfortunately for me, I’m afraid I’ve been tragically missing the point. In praying and fasting, there is no losing. Whatever happens, we will have gained an immeasurable amount through communion with Almighty God. The Divine has been made available to us; there’s no losing!
